Steve Spencer has been working with teenagers and adults since 1974, mostly teaching them music. He spent 15 years in youth and church music ministry. After completing his Master of Music in Voice in 1991 Steve opened the Steve Spencer Studio and continued working with teenagers and adults in the private studio setting. Along the way Steve has been a performer (oratorio, opera, MT, choral, contemporary gospel). He has been a conductor of various levels of church choirs and ensembles including being the choral director at Red Rocks Community College.
Steve's peers have looked to him for leadership roles in both his ministerial life and studio teaching/performing life. He was involved in various committee and board activities in his denomination including being chairman of the states Executive Board. Most recently Steve has been active in leadership of the Colorado-Wyoming chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) the organization for professional voice teachers. He served sequentially as Honors Recital Coordinator (going where no one had gone before and established the program), Audition Chair and the President of the CO/WY chapter. After planning and chairing meetings for 4 decades, Steve is now content to attend them!
He has resided in Littleton/Centennial since 1978 with his wife Janice, who is co-owner and Executive Director of the WIllows Child Learning Centers. They have 2 adult daughters, 2 adult son-in-laws and two granddaughters with #3 coming in February, 2013.
